Prepare

Crises have the potential to affect every student and staff member in a school building.  Despite our best efforts at crisis prevention, it is probable that schools will be impacted by a crisis in one form or another at some point.

Being well-prepared involves an investment of time and resources.  However, the potential to reduce injury and save lives is well worth the effort.   

Every school needs a crisis plan that is tailored to its unique characteristics. Within a school district however, it is necessary for all plans to have certain commonalities.

Located on this page are resources to help school districts prepare for a variety conditions, crises, and training and exercises.  Visitors are encouraged to take the time to view these resources in advance of a crisis or drill, so you are familiar with critical resources available to your district.
